Email List Building Strategies
0 CommentsFiled Under: East Kilbride
You need a list. That’s a given. This is the most important factor in your long-term success. Because you can market to your list whenever you want. Just push a button and print money – literally.
OK, but how?
Here are the three components of list building:
- The Squeeze Page
- The Incentive
- The Opt-in Success Page
The Squeeze Page – The squeeze page is the first thing your visitor is going to see. This page is the one that asks them for their email. This page needs to look professional. It’s also got to be free from distractions. You’ve also got to make a strong “close”.
If you fail to make a strong close, you're wasting your efforts. This “close” tells your visitors what you want them to do. Without this your opt-in rate will plummet. The funny thing is that people just don’t know what to do unless you tell them.
One way to really spice up your squeeze page is to add a video to it. This will grab your visitors attention and keep it. It also allows you to tell them what to do several times. And you can have the video just tell them to fill in your form after it’s done playing.
Now, don’t worry if you have no idea how to make videos. It's very easy to hire people for a couple hundred bucks to make one for you. Or you can get email list tools that include video squeeze pages.
Your Bribe – Next, you've got to figure out what your bribe is. People need a good reason to part with their email address. Most people are very protective of their email address. So make your “bribe” a good one!
The key to a good bribe is that is has value. It has to be something that people actually want. And can benefit from. A few ideas:
- An eBook
- Some useful software
- A video
- An email training series
You’ve got to create some great content. Something that's useful and helpful to your visitors. And of course it has to be free. If you make it good enough, they will give you their email in exchange.
If you’re worried about creating this content, don't be. Here again, you can hire freelancers to create this for you. You just pick the topic and they create the training. One easy and effective bribe is a 5-part email training series. You can have ghost writers create emails for under $25 an email. So, you'll get the whole series written for under $150.
Or again, you can find complete list building packages for sale online that include an email series. There are two important things about the email series. First of all it has to give the subscriber what you promised – valuable information. It also has to generate revenue for you! One very easy way to make some money from your list is with affiliate marketing. This allows you to get started with no products of your own. And you can earn some commissions immediately from your emails.
Your Confirmation Page – Finally, you need to consider your opt-in confirmation page. This is the page your subscriber sees after they opt in. It's nice to give them some great content right away. This helps them feel they've made the right decision giving you their email. And it helps you establish the relationship. Then they're more receptive when you email them.
This is another case where you can get a complete marketing package. Or you can go the DIY route. And write it all yourself. Or hire ghost writers to write them for you.
In closing
It doesn’t matter if you do all of this yourself. Or hire someone else to do it for you. Or go with a complete package. The key is to start building your list. Because once its built… You can basically write your own meal ticket.
