10 Common Website Errors

0 CommentsWritten by adminFiled Under: Internet Marketing

WARNING: Make sure you avoid the mistakes below. In fact, pay close attention to these before you EVEN THINK of getting a new website or redesigning your current website.

  1. Not knowing who your domain name is registered to.

I have had to re-write this report and make this no.1. You have no idea how many people fall for this one at a time when everyone is so well versed with the Internet and all new technologies. UNDERSTAND that your (incorporated) business name is registered to you but the domain name is not automatically registered to you even if it’s exactly the same name or word.

DO NOT ASSUME THAT YOUR DOMAIN IS IN YOUR NAME SIMPLY BECAUSE IT IS THE NAME OF YOUR BUSINESS. MAKE SURE YOUR DOMAIN NAME IS REGISTERED TO YOU AND NOT YOUR WEBSITE DESIGNER OR ANYONE ELSE FOR THAT MATTER.

Some unscrupulous designers out there do this so they can literally hold you to ransom should you wish to switch providers. BE WARNED.

  2. Not knowing who owns the files and all other graphics that go into your website design. They must be copyrighted to you. At the very least you must have access to your files at all times. I have seen people stop their website hosting with certain companies and fail to retrieve their files. In most cases this means re-doing all the design work over again and usually this is very expensive and time consuming. www.Jaxinternet.co.uk always give you back-ups and total control over your material.
  3. Lack of focus on your customers’ perspective. This can also be described as making sure your SEO matches your SEM. It’s all well and good to be search engine friendly and achieve no. 1 for your keywords but after you reach no. 1 you still need to sell to your customers. Your customers are the ones that pay you not Google, so make sure you talk to them in their language and sell to them. Do not write your sales copy based on what your directors want but on what your customers want.
  4. Pages that take ages to load. Your prospects are busy and do not have all day to wait for your fancy graphics and other unusual items to load. Make sure your website provides the information required quickly without too much fanfare or other delays. Google, Twitter, eBay and Amazon are very successful websites because they provide the information you require exactly as you require it. You are met with a search box on Google and in a few seconds you get your search results –simple and very effective. Apply the same principles to your own website.
  5. Too much flash (or flash only) on your website. Please do not put too much in your flash intros or other such pages and subject your prospects or visitors to the pain of waiting ages to get the info they REALLY require. Flash gives the search engines a hard time and can cost you that no.1 search position simply because search engines cannot index the flash part. Use flash moderately or avoid it altogether if you can.
  6. Not capturing your visitors’ details. You have worked so hard to get traffic to your website and they have visited. The thing is not everyone is ready to buy today so capture their names and email addresses and keep them informed of your new specials, products etc so when they are ready to buy, they buy from you. Also use stats programs that track your visitors and show you who is visiting and help you with better targeting for your campaigns. You already do this in your brick and mortar business so why not do it online?
  7. Poor use of colours. Please make sure your colours do not clash and scare off potential customers. Make sure your website is eye-friendly so at least your visitors can read what’s in your pages or sales copy.
  8. Non-standard navigation or bad linking system. Make sure your website navigation is easy to understand and if something is not on the homepage make sure visitors can easily find it. Try to keep everything less than 3 clicks away from your homepage.
  9. WebPages that are never updated. Always keep your websites fresh and interesting. Use an easy to use CMS and keep your visitors coming back because they know there is something else to see on your website. I recommend only using website designers that will arrange for an easy-to-use CMS so you can change and update your website yourself at anytime saving you time and money. I know you may be busy but you need this control on your website and it is not necessarily an everyday thing anyway. Most CMS systems are so easy to use that if you can write an email or use Microsoft Word, you can easily operate these.
  10. Lack of traffic. It surprises me how, in this day and age, very sound businesspeople still believe in the old “once you build it they will come” myth. Unfortunately this does not work anymore. You need to attract visitors to your website. It’s a full time job for some people. There are a lot of methods you can use for this and it is very important that you get traffic. Without traffic you do not get visitors and without visitors you do not get sales. Without sales … well… you get the picture. You can use search engines, articles, email marketing, offline methods and lots more to get traffic to your website. Contact us for more details on this.

Driving School East Kilbride

0 CommentsWritten by adminFiled Under: East Kilbride

There are so many driving schools in East Kilbride Glasgow, so how do you choose? After all you are new to driving and probably only 16 years old so how do you tell who is good and who is not? Do they know how to negotiate the many many roundabouts in EK? Let alone teach you?

Well before you even think about going to a driving school for your lessons you may have to ask a relative or friend to take you to a (very) quite road and teach you the basics so you at least know how to “operate” a car first before you think about anyone or anything else to do with your driving education. If possible there is actually noithing wrong in getting a relative or friend to teach you to drive right till you go for your test.

Anyway, once you are calmer and more confident sitting behind your steering wheel you can then make a decision on who is going to officially teach you to drive. If you are a young kid from the Nintendo/Playstaion generation you can start with yor social network online and offline. Twitter to yor freinds, post on Facebook and someone will recommend their instructor to you.

The driving school

Once you have a few names together do your research.

-Do they take “care” of you and teach you patiently even when you grind their gears and cut everyone off in heavy traffic?

-Are you able to have the same instructor from day one till your test?

-How about the car? Can you use the same car in traing and for your test? The last thing you need is to be surprised on test day so make sure you are clear here.

-Will they teach you everything to do with driving and not just the short-cuts just so you can pass your test? Your driving skill should be for life not for one weekend to pass a mere test. Nothing worse than passing your test only to realise you have not yet tried night-time driving and have to relearn that art afterwards.

Do not be afraid to ask the driving instructor these questions face to face and also ask to contact their former students. most driving instructors in East Kilbride are nice folk and they will be sure to help you out all the way. Good luck!

What is best East Kilbride? Playstation 3, Xbox 360, And Nintendo WII?

0 CommentsWritten by adminFiled Under: Associates' Stories

Finally, they’re all here. The Xbox 360 has had the next generation gaming market to itself for a year. Now its two competitors, the Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii, are here. No more speculating about speed. No more guessing about memory. Now we can take a look and see exactly how they stack up compared to each other.

Let the console wars begin again.

Price

The PS3 has two configurations much like the Xbox 360. The PS3 comes in a £499 version that comes with a 20 GB hard drive and a £599 version that comes with a 60 GB hard drive; Wi-Fi; and memory stick, SD, and Compact Flash slots.

The Xbox 360 has two configurations. It comes in a £299 core version and a £399 version that comes with a 20GB hard drive.

The Nintendo Wii is the cheapest of the bunch with just one configuration that costs £250.

Processing Power

The Playstation 3 comes with its Cell processor. It’s a PowerPC based core that runs at 3.2 GHz that also have seven DSPs that run at 3.2 GHz. This configuration can do about 2 Teraflops.

The Xbox 360 has a Custom IBM PowerPC processor. This processor also runs at 3.2 GHz. However, Xbox went with a true 3 core processor compared to the one general processor of the Cell and seven additional DSPs. This configuration can do about 1 Teraflop.

The Nintendo Wii includes its Broadway processor, a PowerPC based processor running at 729 MHz.

Disc Media

Part of the reason the PS3 is so much more expensive than the Xbox 360 is because the Sony decided to include a Blu-ray drive on the system. The drive can play both Blu-ray movies and regular DVDs. The Xbox 360 comes with a DVD player and an HD-DVD add-on is planned. The Nintendo Wii uses a DVD drive; however, the system will not work for playback of movies, just Nintendo games.

Backwards Compatibility

The Playstation 3 is just like the PS2 was. You’ll be able to play both PS2 and PSone games on the PS3. Nintendo is taking things a bit further. Their system will be compatible with the Gamecube games and also the Gamecube controllers since the two systems use very different controllers. Not only that, but the Wii will also have the ability to download games from the original Nintendo (NES), Super Nintendo (SNES), and the Nintendo 64.

Sweet Features

If you want high definition gaming, then the PS3 is the way to go. It comes with a Blu-ray drive built in and can output in 1080p. Although the PS3 controller may look familiar, it’s had some updates. The controller is now motion sensing so in some games you’ll be able to move your character or fly a plane just by moving the controller.

The Xbox 360 was built to work with Windows XP media center. If you have a computer that already has media center on it, you’ll be able to view pictures, videos, and even recorded TV by using your Xbox. You won’t need to put your PC in your living room to take advantage of having a Media Center PC.

The Nintendo Wii decided to completely change the way gaming controllers are built. In the past, one controller was always held with both hands. The Wii’s controller looks more like a TV remote control than a game controller. It has a built in motion sensor so, for example, to swing a sword, you simply move you hand just like you were really swinging a sword.

Hopefully this review has helped you compare the three next generation gaming systems. Each has its pluses and minuses, and feature that are unique to it. Ultimately, your decision will likely come down to which system has the games that most appeal to you. And that is a decision that only you can make when deciding on a system to buy.
